From November 3rd until 11th 2008 the third biennal festival HAIP 08
will take place in Ljubljana, Slovenia. HAIP is International
Multimedia Festival of Open Technologies and is organized by Zavod
K6/4 – open multimedia center Kiberpipa from Ljubljana.

The HAIP Festival puts on display multimedia art forms resulting from
creative use of open technologies. HAIP is an acronym that stands for
“Hack-Act-Interact-Progress”. The festival features individuals and
groups with a critical approach towards the technologies that surround
us and shape our everyday environment. They generally use open
technologies, either as a practical or an ideological choice. Modern
practices of technology and creativity often refer to diverse
possibilities and choices at the individual’s disposal – everybody is
involved in the social progress and development. And if we take a
moment to reflect on what we eat, how we communicate, who dictates how
we connect, interact, protest, and participate, we quickly realize
that it’s our turn.

The main line of presentation will focus on new art of free digital
media – and the new media content that enabled it in the first place -
while laying special emphasis on technical and legal aspects of new
digital media with free access. The topic was selected with regards to
the current time of political involvement in the changes of national
strategies regarding the digitalization of mass media and the
significant political, contentual and creative consequences thereof.

Festival will take place on several locations in Ljubljana featuring
exhibitions and installations, performances, public space
interventions in the centre of Ljubljana, lectures, club night and
round table.

HAIP 08 will host over 40 artists on international level in
cooperation with following partners:
- Radio FRO (Linz) – http://www.fro.at/
- Time’s Up (Linz) – http://www.timesup.org/
- Ciant (Praga) – http://www.ciant.cz/
- Monochrom (sede? na Dunaju) – http://www.monochrom.at/

Entrance is free for all festival events except the club night at Club K4.

You are kindly invited to join us on HAIP 08 from November 3rd – 11th
and hack the future with us!

(ACTIVISM-HACKING-ARTIVISM)

The national ahaCamping meeting will take place on the 3rd, 4th and 5th
of October 2008 at the S.A.L.E in Venice (The Salt Warehouses, Dorsoduro
187-188). The AHA mailing list, hosted by the Italian independent server
Isole Nella Rete (Islands in the Net), is the core of the networking
project AHA:Activism-Hacking-Artivism , which
was founded in 2001 by Tatiana Bazzichelli aka T_Bazz and was awarded in
2007 at the ARS Electronica Festival in Linz with an Honorary Mention.

The ahaCamp was created from the need of approximately 600 subscribers
of aha@ecn.org to meet each other for the first time face to face, to
discuss the themes of artistic, political and technological activism, in
a situation that is very different to that which existed when the list
was initially created. Themes such as the analysis of Web 2.0 (in
economical, social and technological terms), the relationships between
artistic activities and digital technologies, and the linguistic and
relational deconstruction of “communication” practices are just a few of
the core themes of the meeting. The meeting aims to create nets, to
enable the sharing of projects and to build new interventions for the
future in artistic and technological fields. The ahaCamp therefore
exists as a space whereby to discuss and share knowledge, with the
objective of learning and sharing practices and knowledge in a free
environment without censorship.

By adopting the same strategies of Hackmeetings
(http://www.hackmeeting.org), the ahaCamp is organised and managed
directly by the participants, who can suggest seminars or projects that
they intend to share on the list as well as on the free and open wiki
created especially for the occasion: (http://isole.ecn.org/aha/camper/):
a nomadic space that offers further possibilities other than the list in
order to share projects, ideas, files, videos, documents, music, etc..

AHA:Activism-Hacking-Artivism is an artistic networking project founded
in 2001 by Tatiana Bazzichelli aka T_Bazz. AHA is a networking operation
created by diverse subjects and activated by contamination/integration
of a multitude of media and events, where the common denominator is
hacktivism and artistic and political activism. AHA:
Activism-Hacking-Artivism focuses on the activist collectives in Italy
and abroad that use media in an independent fashion, through
exhibitions, events, and meetings organised by T_Bazz along with other
curators that change accordingly.

The fundamental key aspect of the AHA project is the community that
develops in the mailing list aha@ecn.org, created on the 30th of
December 2002. The mailing list is moderated by T_Bazz (Tatiana
Bazzichelli), Eo_Call (Eleonora Calvelli) and Lo|Bo, and today counts
almost 600 subscribers and is a sister of the international mailing list
Nettime. The AHA: Activism-Hacking-Artivism project was awarded in
September 2007 at the ARS Electronica Festival in Linz (AU) receiving an
Honorary Mention in the Digital Communities category of the Prix Ars
Electronica.

CALL 4 NODES LLAMADA A LA PARTICIPACION v.0.1

* Reality hacking
* Copyleft
* Defensas frente al copyright
* Redes inalambricas (wireless) autogestionadas
* Telematica y (contra)informacion alternativa
* Servidores autonomos, ISPs alternativos, data centers alternativos
* Programas libres: GNU/Linux, Debian, etc.
* Criptografia, esteganografia
* Edicion de video y audio con herramientas y formatos libres, mediactivismo
* Hacktivismo
* Gobiernos en la red: LSSI, leyes de cibercrimen, enfopol, censura, nueva ley de la propiedad intelectual…
* Corporaciones en la red: copyright, patentes, espionaje, monopolios …
* Educacion y nuevas tecnologias
* Acceso universal a la red, al conocimiento y a la tecnica
* Desobediencia Civil/Social Electronica
* Ciberpunk
* Artivismo, guerrilla de la comunicacion
*
